Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune skin condition that causes skin inflammation. Common symptoms of psoriasis include patches of itchy, scaly skin, typically on the knees, elbows, and scalp. While the cause of psoriasis remains unclear, genetics and environmental factors can trigger an outbreak.

Psoriasis treatments vary by the condition’s severity, but can range from topical creams and ointments to light therapies or prescribed medications.

 Certain lifestyle changes can also help manage psoriasis symptoms, such as limiting alcohol intake, stopping smoking, and maintaining a healthy diet.

Does psoriasis go away?

You can’t cure psoriasis, but you can manage the symptoms with a variety of treatment options. This may involve topical creams, medications, or lifestyle changes.

While there’s no particular diet that’s best for psoriasis, maintaining a healthy diet may help mitigate inflammation. Avoid ultra-processed foods, added sugars, and alcohol.

Untreated psoriasis can lead to severe discomfort, pain, fatigue, and joint stiffness or inflammation.

If you experience symptoms of psoriasis, there’s no need to panic, but you should speak with your doctor about appropriate treatment options.
