About
Emily Prendergast, MD, FACOG, is a board-certified gynecologic oncologist and associate professor at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where she also serves as associate director of gynecologic oncology clinical trials at the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute.
Her clinical expertise spans the full spectrum of gynecologic malignancies — including ovarian, endometrial, and cervical cancers — with a focus on complex cytoreductive surgery, minimally invasive and robotic techniques, and the care of patients with hereditary cancer syndromes.
A nationally and internationally recognized investigator, Dr. Prendergast has served as principal investigator on phase I through III clinical trials that have helped shape current standards of care, including landmark studies on PARP inhibitors and targeted therapies for ovarian cancer. Prior to joining Cedars-Sinai, she held positions at Intermountain Health in Salt Lake City and Minnesota Oncology in Minneapolis, building strong clinical and research programs at both institutions.
Prendergast completed her fellowship in gynecologic oncology at UCLA/Cedars-Sinai and her residency at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson, graduating summa cum laude. A multiple-time Castle Connolly Top Doctor honoree and award-winning educator, she is also dedicated to service, volunteering as a gynecologic surgeon in Guatemala and serving on the board of Needs Beyond Medicine.
