Clonidine is used alone or in combination with other blood pressure medications in adults to treat hypertension (high blood pressure).
Certain brand forms of clonidine is used alone or with other medications to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children at least 6 years of age and older.

What is the most important information I should know about Nexiclon Xr (Oral)?
You should not use clonidine if you are allergic to it.
It is not known if clonidine will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
If you are pregnant, your name may be listed on a pregnancy registry to track the effects of clonidine on the baby.
Ask a doctor if it is safe to breastfeed while using this medicine.
Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had:
Dry eyes may occur while taking some formulations of clonidine, especially if you wear contact lenses. Talk with your doctor about this risk.
Clonidine may affect fertility in men or women. Pregnancy could be harder to achieve while either parent is using this medicine.
- high or low blood pressure;
- fainting;
- heart problems such as a heart attack, stroke, and heart rhythm disorder;
- pheochromocytoma (tumor of the adrenal gland);
- if you have ever had an allergic reaction to a clonidine transdermal skin patch; or
- kidney disease.

What are the side effects of Nexiclon Xr (Oral)?
Get emergency medical help if you have : hives, difficult breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. signs of an allergic reaction
Call your doctor at once if you have:
- severe drowsiness and tiredness;
- slow heart rate;
- feeling like you might pass out; or
- increased blood pressure--severe headache, blurred vision, pounding in your neck or ears.

- feeling tired or irritable;
- dry mouth;
- constipation, loss of appetite; or
- sleep problems (insomnia), nightmares.

What drugs and food should I avoid while taking Nexiclon Xr (Oral)?
Drinking alcohol with this medicine can cause side effects.
Avoid driving or hazardous activity until you know how this medicine will affect you. Dizziness or drowsiness can cause falls, accidents, or severe injuries.
Avoid becoming overheated or dehydrated during exercise and in hot weather.
Dosage Guidelines & Tips
How to take Nexiclon Xr (Oral)?
Use Nexiclon Xr (Oral) exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose. Use the medicine exactly as directed.
Your dose needs may change if you switch to a different brand, strength, or form of this medicine. Avoid medication errors by using exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor.
Clonidine may be taken with or without food.
Measure with the supplied measuring device (not a kitchen spoon). liquid medicine
Read and carefully follow the instructions provided with your medicine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you do not understand these instructions.
If you need surgery, tell the surgeon ahead of time that you are using clonidine. You may need to stop using the medicine for a short time.
Your heart rate, blood pressure, and other vital signs may need to be checked often.
You may have withdrawal symptoms if you stop using clonidine suddenly. Ask your doctor before stopping the medicine.

Do not change your dose or stop using a medicine without your doctor's advice.
Swallow the whole and do not crush, chew, or break it. Tell the doctor if the person taking this medicine has trouble swallowing the tablet. extended-release tablet
Call your doctor if you are sick with vomiting. This is especially important for a child taking clonidine.
You may be given other medications to treat certain serious side effects. Keep taking these medicines for as long as your doctor has prescribed.
