Cardamyst (Nasal)
Etripamil is used in adults to treat sudden episodes of fast heartbeat called paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT).
Etripamil may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

What is the most important information I should know about Cardamyst (Nasal)?
You should not use etripamil if you are allergic to it, or if you have:
- heart failure;
- "sick sinus syndrome" or "AV block" (unless you have a pacemaker); or
- certain heart rhythm disorders (such as Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, Lown-Ganong-Levine syndrome, or an abnormal heart rhythm pattern called pre-excitation (delta wave) on an electrocardiogram (ECG)).
Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had:
- history of fainting; or
- low blood pressure.
It is not known if etripamil will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
Do not breastfeed within 12 hours after using etripamil. If you use a breast pump during this time, throw out the milk and do not feed it to your baby.
Side Effects
What are the side effects of Cardamyst (Nasal)?
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives, difficult breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor at once if you have:
- dizziness; or
- fainting.
Common side effects may include:
- runny or stuffy nose;
- throat irritation; or
- nosebleed.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Can I take Cardamyst (Nasal) if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

What drugs and food should I avoid while taking Cardamyst (Nasal)?
Do not share this medicine with another person, even if they have the same symptoms you have.
Avoid getting up too fast from a sitting or lying position, or you may feel dizzy.
Dosage Guidelines & Tips
How to take Cardamyst (Nasal)?
Use Cardamyst (Nasal) exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Use the medicine exactly as directed.
Do not take by mouth. Etripamil nasal is for use only in your nose.
Read and carefully follow any Instructions for Use provided with your medicine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you do not understand these instructions.
Use etripamil nasal as soon as possible after your PSVT symptoms begin. Symptoms may include: sudden rapid heartbeat, palpitations, dizziness, shortness of breath, or chest discomfort.
To use the nasal spray:
- Each device contains 1 dose consisting of 2 sprays (1 spray in each nostril). Do not test or prime it before using.
- With your head upright and while sitting, insert the etripamil device into one nostril and spray once by pressing the plunger firmly and quickly all the way up and releasing it. Breathe in gently.
- Use in your other nostril the same way. Keep your head straight for 10 minutes.
- If you still have symptoms after 10 minutes, give a second dose (1 spray in each nostril).
- Lie down if you feel dizzy or lightheaded after using etripamil.
- Do not use more than 2 doses within a 24-hour period.
If you do not receive the full first dose (1 spray in each nostril) because the device did not work or was used incorrectly, wait at least 10 minutes before giving a second dose, if needed.
Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve within 20 minutes after giving the second dose. If fainting occurs, caregivers should place you on your back and seek medical help.
Each nasal spray pump is for one use only. Throw away after one use, even if there is still medicine left inside.
Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Do not use this medicine if the expiration date on the label has passed.
Etripamil is used when needed and does not have a daily dose. Do not use two doses at one time.
