The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) updated a recall of more than 27,000 bags of jasmine white rice, which producer Lundberg Family Farms pulled from shelves in April due to potential contamination with an unspecified foreign material. In a statement to People, the company said that no injuries have been reported in relation to the recall.
The update indicates that the rice was sold in the following states: California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.
This is a class 2 recall, which means the affected products may “cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences,” or that “the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote,” according to the FDA.
The recall involves 32-ounce bags of Lundberg Family Farms Jasmine White Rice, which have a UPC code of 073416-040281, with the following lot numbers and expiration dates:
Lot 260201MA, Best Before 01FEB2027
Lot 260202MA, Best Before 02FEB2027
Lundberg Farms did not issue a general statement related to the recall, and the FDA did not specify what consumers should do with the recalled rice. Generally, if a product is recalled, buyers can return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
