Who might benefit from a berberine supplement?
Some research shows berberine can help support weight loss and reduce appetite as part of a reduced-calorie diet and exercise program. However, as Amidor advises, “Berberine isn’t a magic pill, and if you're taking the supplements for weight loss or glucose control, it should still be paired with a healthful lifestyle and diet.”
Berberine supplements can cause gastrointestinal distress in some people, such as bloating, gas, constipation, or diarrhea.
Berberine is best taken with meals for optimal absorption. For appetite reduction benefits, take it about 30 minutes before meals.
