Every January, many of us feel that familiar spark — the urge to reset, reenergize, and do something good for our bodies and minds. Maybe you’re ready to return to a workout you love, build consistency with healthy habits, or finally invest in tools that support your physical and mental well-being. Whatever your goals look like this year, choosing the right products can help you stay motivated, feel more confident, and make the whole process a lot more enjoyable.

As journalists and editors who specialize in health and wellness, our team spends a good chunk of our time testing gear designed to help people feel better. Over the past several months, we tried more than 400 products across fitness, recovery, nutrition, mental health, and overall lifestyle improvements. We paid close attention to how each item fit into daily routines, how it held up in real-world use, and whether it genuinely made a positive difference in how we felt — physically or emotionally.

The result? A curated list of the products we believe are actually worth buying for yourself as you head into the new year. Whether you’re aiming to get stronger, move more, stress less, or simply feel a little healthier, these are the tools that stood out.

Fitness Products

running belt

If Your Resolution Is to Start Running

The SPIbelt

Taking up running is a resolution worth making — it lowers your risk of death from cancer (or any cause).

Get started with this great lightweight storage belt, a staple in any runner’s closet. With just one small but surprisingly sizable pocket once expanded, it’s the most minimalist version of its kind that I’ve ever tried. I love that I can fit my phone, keys, debit card, and earbud holder securely in it. The belt also stands out for having minimal bounce. Plus, its discreet, simple design makes it easy to forget I’m wearing it.
smart ring

If Your Resolution Is to Track Your Fitness

Qalo QRNT Smart Ring

This ring is the perfect item for the person who checks their sleep score before they even check their text messages. The QRNT Smart Ring tracks HRV (heart-rate variability), sleep, stress, blood oxygenation levels, and skin temperature — all in a sleek titanium ring that won’t announce “I’m wearing a tracker.” It charges in a compact case, runs about five days per charge, and crucially: has no subscriptions. “This ring holds you accountable for many things, and for me, it's been huge with exercise and making sure I'm getting good sleep,” writer Raki Swanson says. “The app is very easy to set up, is free, and is easy to maneuver in.”

Exercise bike

If Your Resolution Is to Up Your At-Home Cycling Game

BowFlex C6 Indoor Cycling Bike

If you’re ready to turn your spare room into a personal spin studio, this is the bike to make it happen. The C6 syncs with apps like Zwift, Peloton, and JRNY, letting you chase metrics, leaderboards, and virtual sweat sessions. With 100 levels of magnetic resistance and a smooth, super quiet ride, it’ll deliver a studio-quality workout at home. “Whether you want to ride at a leisurely pace for 30 minutes or do some high-intensity workouts, this bike is perfect,” says Swanson. Plus, “it is a very attractive bike, with the black and the red. It’s sleek and will match any type of decor.”

bundle of body sculpt tools

If Your Resolution Is to Work Out More Consistently

PVolve Signature Home Bundle

Pressed for time, but looking to keep up with your routine? P-Volve Signature Bundle can help. It includes a band, ball, and mat designed to provide a low-impact, full-body workout and build strength, stability, and flexibility. The bundle comes with a one-on-one trainer consultation and a month of free access to their streaming platform. “I like that I can do this from home on my own time, whether I have 20 minutes or an hour,” says editor Ashley Zeigler. “I genuinely feel like I get a solid workout from the classes, and I don't typically feel that way when I'm doing classes from home with other styles of workouts (yoga, barre). It's also under $30 per month, and you can't beat that.”

long sleeve shirt

If Your Resolution Is to Start Cycling

Backcountry Slickrock Drirelease Long‑Sleeve Tech Tee

Ready to hit the trail in 2026? This long-sleeve shirt will give you the perfect start. It’s made from moisture-wicking dri-release fabric and has body-mapped mesh to enhance breathability. A droptail hem offers coverage in the back, and unzippered pockets make it easy to reach for energy gels mid-cycle. “The light color is nice if you're in the woods for warding off mosquitoes,” says writer Jessica Migala. “The Fog color, a light oatmeal color, is the epitome of the ‘wear something lightweight in a light color’ rule. I also like the mesh fabric cuffs and side body and underside of the arms, which keep you nice and cool.”

If Your Resolution Is to Take Up Pilates

Balanced Body Weighted Exercise Balls

$33 at Amazon
Pilates is an amazing workout that builds strength, length, and flexibility.

Balanced Body’s compact weighted balls are a simple yet powerful way to increase workout intensity and reap those benefits. They have a textured surface to keep them secure in sweaty hands and add just enough resistance to make a difference without being overly challenging to use. “I would encourage gifting two to allow for a balanced workout without having to shift mid-workout or exercise,” says writer Brittany Scanniello. “I see this as another nice addition to a pilates or yoga exercise gift basket.”

If Your Resolution Is to Hit the Trail

Teton TrailRunner 2 L Hydration Pack

If you are ready to officially call yourself “a trail person” in the new year, this hydration pack should be on your buy list. The Teton TrailRunner 2L is ultralight, bounce-resistant, and designed to sit close to the body so it won’t swish around on rocky terrain. The 2-liter (L) bladder keeps you hydrated for miles, while the zip pockets stash snacks and other essentials. It’s great “for outdoorsy folks at a great price point in a variety of color options,” says editor Olivia Campbell.

yoga mat

If Your Resolution Is to Develop a Yoga Practice

Gaiam Dry-Grip Yoga Mat

The sun salutations will come out tomorrow, and there’s no day like today to start purchasing what you need. A great yoga mat that's easy on the joints and supports you during complex floor movements will go a long way toward helping you stick to a yoga-based resolution. The nonslip, 5-millimeter thick Gaiam Dry-Grip Yoga Mat stands out as one of the best options we've tested. “It was thick, and the cushion was enough that my knees didn’t hurt when doing certain poses,” Swanson says. “The extra thickness gave me more padding for when I fell trying to do some poses. This mat is thicker and a bit firmer than the other mats that I tested.”

base layer top

If Your Resolution Is to Try Skiing

Icebreaker Merino 260 Tech High‑Rise Thermal Leggings

The Icebreaker Merino 260 Tech High-Rise Thermal Leggings will keep you toasty as you hit the slopes. The midweight wool is thick enough to lock in warmth, but thanks to the fabric’s natural breathability, it won’t cause overheating. Wool is also naturally moisture-wicking and odor-absorbing. We love that these leggings have the added benefit of flat seams that reduce chafing, and the high-rise waistband gives extra coverage.“I see this as an ideal base-layer for skiing, snowshoeing, and other cold-weather activities,” says Scanniello.

fitness watch

If Your Resolution Is to Develop a Serious Fitness Regimen

Garmin Venu 4

So you’re not a newbie when it comes to training, and you’d like to up the ante even further? The Garmin Venu 4 is the perfect pick. It’s favored by professional athletes and works just as well for weekend fitness warriors committing to their 2026 goals. It has over 80 sport-specific apps, downloadable workouts, and an AI-powered coach. And it can create custom workout plans that feature up to 25 different workout types. Plus, it tracks health metrics, including heart rate, ECG, oxygenation, sleep, and even “Lifestyle Logging,” into which you can input data like alcohol consumption, so you can see how your habits affect your health.

phone app and device

If Your Resolution Is to Lose Weight

Lumen Metabolism Tracker

Trying to lose weight can seem like an uphill battle. People may tell you to change your diet and exercise routine without giving you much more guidance. Fortunately, there’s tech for that. If you’re done with guesswork and ready to know what you’re actually burning, Lumen is your gadget. The little handheld device asks you to breathe into it, reveals whether your body is burning carbs or fats, and then gives real-time guidance on nutrition and workouts to match. Tech-forward and motivational, “This is one of the most interesting things I have had the privilege to test,” Swanson says. The app is “truly like a personal chef, willing to offer you some guidance on what you should eat, so it takes the meal prepping to a whole new level.”
deodorant

If Your Resolution Is to Eliminate Toxins

Primally Pure Organic Deodorants

If committing to using more natural products is a goal for the new year, switching to a nontoxic deodorant is a small but meaningful step. Unlike some deodorants, which may have parabens and chemical fragrances, Primally Pure’s formulas are scented with organic essential oils and use grass-fed tallow, arrowroot powder, and naturally-mined baking soda to neutralize odor. Scanniello says her favorite thing about the product is that it actually works, unlike many natural deodorants that aren’t exactly effective. “I love that it comes in many different scents as well,” she adds. Choose from Vanilla + Citrus, Blue Tansy, Lemongrass, and many more.

Creativity and Mental Health Products

paint by number set

If Your Resolution Is to Cut Down on Screen Time

Liberty 9 x 12" Paint‑by‑Number Kit ‘Thorpe’

Excessive screen time is linked to poor psychological and physical health.

Start reducing those adverse effects with fun, screen-free alternatives like the “Thorpe” Paint-By-Number Kit. “I think it could be good for anyone,” says writer and therapist Julia Childs Heyl. “Paint-by-number kits are easy to use, satisfying, and make folks exercise their brain.” The 9 x 12-inch canvas is large enough to feel like a proper project, but not so big that you’ll get overwhelmed. The design has enough detail to be engaging but is also soothing, making it ideal for winding down and taking a break from the all-too-familiar screen.

Filled with funny prompts, cathartic exercises, and doodles that make anxiety feel a little less overwhelming, it turns mental health work into something actually enjoyable. “It is pretty funny and has great information in it,” says Childs Heyl. “It is a cheeky but relevant approach to anxiety (and really general mental health challenges).”

With a 4.5 L bowl, 10 speed settings, and a 1,300-watt motor, it can handle everything from dough to whipped cream. It’s also light enough to move around the kitchen or store without much hassle. Plus, “It is so pretty, it will be easy to keep on the countertop, if need be, because it isn't too big and bulky and is very nice to look at,” Swanson says. Additionally, Swanson noted, “The mixing bowl locked into place, a huge bonus [and] it was very easy to clean.”
candle

If Your Resolution Is to Have a Calming Evening Routine

Whispering Pines 10 oz Evergreen Cypress Fraser Fir Candle

This hand-poured soy candle brings a peaceful, forest-like scent into any space — think cypress, evergreen, and fir. The aroma is grounding, making it perfect for someone trying to build a calming evening self-care routine. “It's got a nice scent,” says editorial director Simone Scully. “It’s a subtle, pine scent that isn't overwhelming or overly artificial. I also like the packaging: It comes in a nice jar, with a pretty, simple label and a wood cover to keep the dust out.” At 50 to 60 hours of burn time, you can use it throughout the week as a signal to wind down. And because it’s phthalate-free and made with clean ingredients, you can feel even better about your new healthy habit.

Beauty and Hygiene Products

If Your Resolution Is to Take Better Care of Your Teeth

Autobrush Sonic Pro Total Package

Get all of those hard-to-reach places effortlessly with this U-shaped electric toothbrush that’s designed to clean all of your teeth at the same time in just 30 seconds. The device uses sonic vibrations and red light therapy to reduce gum inflammation and has potential antimicrobial effects.

“It felt like I’d just come from the dentist after having a cleaning,” ways writer Kimberly Dawn Neumann. The deep-clean feeling she gets from using it helps ensure that it’s a staple in her routine. After two months of using the device, Neumann’s dentist said her gums looked healthy, and she experienced less pain and bleeding during her cleaning.

led mask

If Your Resolution Is to Up Your Skin-Care Game

Silk’n LED Face Mask

This LED light therapy mask brings a spa-like tech treatment into the home. The 100 LEDs deliver red, blue, infrared, and mixed light that can improve circulation, reduce acne, increase moisture, and combat free radicals, among other benefits.

The mask is great for someone who is “serious about skin care,” says writer Grace Gallagher. “I like how it feels on my skin, and I noticed a more even skin tone shortly after using it.” It’s also hands-free, which makes it easier to wear while multitasking.

Nutrition and Hydration Products

tincture

If Your Resolution Is to Do Dry January

Apothekary Wine Down

People who participate in Dry January are making a healthier choice than they may realize. Cutting back or eliminating alcohol from your diet comes with some big health and lifestyle benefits, like better sleep, mood, and even weight loss.

If your resolution this year is to commit to a full month without your favorite Zinfandel, try this Wine Down tincture as an alcohol alternative. You can mix it into a spritzer or drop it directly into your mouth, and the mixture of ingredients will help you feel calmer, less stressed, and even lull you to sleep (basically offering similar effects as a glass of wine, just without the alcohol).
tilden duo

If Your Resolution Is to Go Alcohol-Free

Tilden Complex Non‑Alcoholic Cocktails The Duo

Tilden Complex’s Non-Alcoholic Cocktails are the perfect companion for someone committing to going alcohol-free. “The flavors on this mocktail duo are great,” says editor Katie Tuttle. “It would be a good gift for a friend who doesn't drink, but doesn't want to miss out on interesting flavors (and wants something a little more festive than a water or a soda in a plastic cup).” The sophisticated set includes Tandem, with notes of tart cherry and bitter orange, and Lacewing, an herbaceous blend of cucumber and basil. With this set at your side, you can enjoy healthier, more conscious relaxation and socialization rituals without feeling like you’re missing out.

Click and Grow’s Smart Garden 9 is an aesthetically pleasing option to help you do just that. It couldn’t be easier, either, because the garden automatically provides the plants with light, water (this needs to be refilled every few weeks), and nutrients, so all you have to do is watch them grow and enjoy. Click and Grow has a wide variety of plant pods for purchase. The Smart Garden includes nine basil, lettuce, and mini tomato plant pods to get you started.

Ninja Foodi Personal Blender and Smoothie Bowl Maker

Craft delicious and nutritious dishes like smoothie bowls and nut butters with the Ninja Foodi Personal Blender and Smoothie Bowl Maker. The 1,400-watt motor helps the machine power through frozen produce and thick smoothie-bowl mixes without stalling. “The torque is insane, I've never had a blender blow through thick, chunky, frozen fruits like this does,” says writer and dietitian Tori Martinet. “It has suction cups on the bottom to keep it stable, which is great if you want to leave something to blend and walk away from it.” The device is versatile and can make bread dough and homemade ice cream for days when you just want to treat yourself.

water filter pitcher

If Your Resolution Is to Drink More Water

Soma 10-Cup Water Filter Pitcher

Staying hydrated is likely a worthy goal on any New Year's Resolution list, and the Soma 10-Cup Water Filter Pitcher can help you achieve it. It uses a coconut-shell-based carbon filter to remove chlorine and other common impurities, delivering better-tasting, cleaner water. With a 10-cup capacity, it's big enough for regular use in a kitchen fridge, but compact enough not to feel cumbersome. “This product changes our preconceived thoughts on water filter pitchers,” shares Swanson. “This is easy to fill, the water filters through the filter quickly, so no waiting for the filtering, and the wooden handle makes this easy to grab.” She also appreciates its aesthetic design.

Possible SuperGrens powder is nutrient-dense, plant-based, and convenient for someone who doesn’t get enough veggies. It’s made from real-food ingredients to support digestion, immunity, energy, and recovery. Unlike many competitors, the drink tastes great: “First thoughts: delicious,” Swanson says. “I can do this every day for the rest of my life.” She loves that the drink mixes well and is smooth rather than being gritty. And because it's designed for daily use, it’s a great companion to a “get healthier” resolution without requiring major changes to your diet.

Get in the habit of always having healthy water with you with the Hydro Flask. The bottle is made from stainless steel and BPA-free plastic, with a double-wall, vacuum-insulated design that keeps liquids nice and cold. It outperformed all competitors during our testing, staying an icy 45 degrees F when left outside for eight hours.

The Nancy Horizontal Weekly Planner is a great gift for someone who truly commits to their goals, or those who need extra support in doing so. With daily, weekly, and monthly spreads, a yearly wins-and-lessons page, habit tracking, and plenty of open space to doodle in, it’s great for creative thinkers, planners, and type-A personalities. “The Nancy Planner is spiral-bound (which I like because it takes up less space) and hardcover (which I like because my planners tend to take a beating),” Tuttle remarks. “You can choose between a Sunday and a Monday start (which I love), and the ditzy floral print is very pretty.”

How We Chose the Best New Year’s Resolution and Get-Healthy Gear

When we put this guide together, we didn’t just skim product pages or rely on brands’ big promises — we actually lived with these items. Our team of health and wellness journalists spent weeks weaving them into our real routines, whether that meant early-morning workouts or stretching sessions after deadlines. We wanted to know what held up, what made life genuinely easier, and what just collected dust in the corner.

We paid attention to usability, comfort, durability, and whether something actually made a noticeable difference in how we moved or felt. A product doesn’t make this list just because it’s trendy; it has to earn its place. If we wouldn’t recommend it to a friend, it didn’t make the cut.
