Rose Hayes

Rose Hayes is a nurse and writer who is dedicated to sharing health information with the public in enjoyable, meaningful, and memorable ways. She currently serves as director of engagement for Emory School of Nursing in Atlanta, a role that focuses heavily on community engagement surrounding environmental health. She is also a PhD student whose scholarship emphasizes community-network-based strategies to help pregnant women and children avoid exposure to contaminated drinking water. As director, Rose has helped to position public/community engagement as central to academic scholarship and valuable to academic culture. Her role involves bringing together community groups, scientists, and journalists to share environmental health stories with the public using novel, high-reach media strategies.
