Emily L. Mroz, PhD, is currently an assistant professor in the School of Nursing at Emory University. She is a psychologist who conducts research focusing on adult development and aging. Her program of research focuses on developing interventions, resources, and solutions for individuals, their family members, and their care teams as they navigate serious illness (e.g., dementia, cancer), end of life, and bereavement.
Dr. Mroz received her PhD from the University of Florida and completed a three-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Yale School of Medicine before joining the faculty at Emory University. She is known for partnering with community organizations and people with lived experience to conduct high-quality research.
Much of Dr. Mroz's research centers around health, self-care, and interpersonal communication for caregivers and people living with serious illness. She strives to live by the same principles that she teaches others, and nurtures a range of healthy, self-care hobbies like hiking, biking, pottery, and cooking. Her favorite activity is spending time with her husband and their rescue dog at a park or on a trail.
